Whiteman turns Silver Star to Gold


Katie Whiteman traveled to the West Midlands Under 13’s silver event this weekend and came home with Gold. Katie played in the Silver Star event battled her way through the semi final 15-10, 15-13. She then met Hope Warner in the final and took gold after a great performance winning 15-13, 15-4. Katie partnered up with Helen Kelly in the doubles to unfortunately take silver medal after a 3 set match losing 9-15, 15-13, 15-8.

After a wonderful weekend Katie should now be upgraded to Grade 1 (Gold).

James Ellaway joined doubles partner Scott Oates in York Under 15’s Silver and took Gold medal in the doubles, while down in Swansea saw more medals with Callum Simmonds winning gold in the U17’s boys singles after defeating Gwent team mate Josh Pearce in the final. The singles finalists then joined forces to take the gold in the doubles event. Bethany Jones 1st year Gwent player came runner up in the U11’s doubles event.
