Oakdale Badminton club are actively looking for players for their league teams. If you are not in a team and would like to play in either Ladies, Mixed or Men’s doubles in the 2015/2016 season why not give us a ring or come along to a club night.

Newport Men win Division 2 2011-2012
In May Newport badminton club’s Men’s A Team picked up the Division two winners shield. A near perfect season, unbeaten against tough opposition from Oakdale A, Ponthir B, Abergavenny B and Caerleon.
Next year is going to be a big year for us in Division one, a season in which we hope to retain our place in the division and hopefully progress further up the table.

The team were unbeaten this season winning the division by 28 points.
Doubles Win
Abersychan congratulate their Mens Captain, Matthew Haynes, on winning the Mens Doubles at the Welsh Satellite Series Finals. Matthew, with his partner Gareth Day, defeated Chris Allan and Oliver Hartrey 21/13, 21/16 in the final.
TWO MORE JOIN THE LIST
Abersychan congratulates Anna-Beth Phillips and Scott Saunders on successfully gaining their UKCC 1 coaching qualifications. Their names are added to the continually increasing list of qualified coaches at our club.WELL DONE BOTH.
Four teams for Newport Badminton Club 2011-2012
Newport Badminton Club are entering four teams into the Gwent Badminton Leagues this season ( 2 Mens teams, a mixed team and a ladies team). All will be playing to win as many matches as possible and win their respective divisions.
Our first cup match will take place in early November.
We are still open for new member applications to help us achieve our season goals.
Abersychan Awards Success
Abersychan players were to the forefront of the presentations at the annual GYCB awards night at Abergavenny. Scott Saunders took the Player of the year and Clubman of the year awards, Sean Keohane took Players Player and Millie Guliford took Most Improved player at under 17 level.
Sean Keohane has also recently achieved success on the coaching side of Badminton. He has obtained his UKCC Level 1 and becomes the latest addition to Abersychan’s growing list of qualified coaches.
Well done Millie, Scott and Sean. Congratulations, from all at the club.
National Satellite Success
Abersychan BC members Sean Keohane and Scott Saunders had a successful day at the 2011 National Satellite Finals, on Saturday 26th March,at the Flash Leisure Centre, Welshpool. Sean won the U17 singles title, with Scott winning his group but narrowly missing out in the semi-finals. Sean then picked up his second title, when with his club partner, Scott, they took the U17 doubles title. A very successful day for the two young players, congratulations to both.
UKCC Level 2
Abersychan Badminton Club would like to congratulate Chris Killick on gaining his UKCC Level 2 coaching certificate. Chris has followed his doubles partner, Matt Haynes and becomes the second member of our club to successfully achieve level 2 this season.
New Junior Club
PD badminton club (Ystrad Mynach) have established a Junior club in 2010, which runs at the same time as the senior club on a Monday evening from 7-9pm
The Junior club is very well attended, regularly attracting up to 25 players per session.
Our club coach ‘Nick Gunning‘ holds a UKCC Level 2 coaching award, and welcomes any new junior players to the club.
Cost per session is £1.50
